Ararat Farm Newsletter July 2023

Hello Everyone,

Summer is here in full swing. Between the hot days, busy chores, Summer pork orders and days that make one just want to sleep in the sun, we know summer is here and are trudging through. We have been maintaining normal summer grazing and all the animals are doing well so long as they have enough water. Everyone is drink a lot more due to the heat and thankfully only a day or two out of the month has anyone run out of water. We are working hard to get the farm running smoothly as western fire season picks up and manager Matt has to head out west. Always something coming up to keep us busy!

Summary for the month of July:

  • The mini Cattle drive…

  • Big pigs out

  • Another Appleseed!

  • Little Farm Hand at work

The Herd

This month has been a hot month with storms that makes the grass grow and gives the cows a nice shower. The herd has done pretty well through this month. We have had several new calves this month which is so exciting. They have been stayed healthy and strong and are always so much fun to watch play in the fields

The Cattle Drive

We recently moved the herd to a field we are grazing off for a neighbor down the road a bit. We fenced a lane and moved them down the road a little ways to the new field. Everything went very smoothly and only a small amount of traffic was held up. Having well handled cattle is a huge blessing!

The Pigs

This month was the big pigs last. They have grown very well and we are so excited for our customers faces when they receive their orders. We are now down to the little pigs left. We did not end up selling all 17 big pigs so the few left we have placed with the little pigs so everyone is together. A new pecking order is being established.

Another Appleseed…

This month we held another small Appleseed for long range rifle shooting. It was a lot of fun and we are always so glad to be able to provide the property for marksmanship shoots.

Little Farm Hand Business

As Little Farm continues to grow, her ability to keep up and be apart of chores has been an enjoyable blessing. The adventures she gets to partake in are endless. Thank the Lord for Farm Life!

That’s A Wrap

Well, that should bring you up to date on everything happening this month. We thank you for joining us to day for the monthly update on the farm. We hope you have a wonderful rest of your July and an amazing start to your August. Until next time…
