Ararat Farm Newsletter October 2023

Hello Everyone,

We hope you all have had a wonderful Autumn so far! October has been a whirlwind here on the farm. Between regular chores, event prep and normal seasonally fall and winter prep. We did get a week long break at the beach which was much needed so nice to get away for a bit. It doesn’t make the work easier but it is a helpful reset. The animals are all doing well during this very dry fall, grazing well with early winter grazing. Due to business this may be a shorter newsletter. So lets get started

Summary for the month of October:

  • Grazing Herd

  • Pumpkin Piggies

  • Farm Day

  • Little Farm Hand

The Herd

The cows are all doing well. They have weathered the dryness we have had well thanks to the still well working spring. The are grazing down the ridge on the last of late summer grazing and will be enjoying the stocked winter grazing in the bottom fields. They have been nicely sharing the field with the horses for the last month to make fencing and grazing easier during the busy fall season.

The Pigs

The pumpkin season is here and loved by all. We recently had an event and had leftover pumpkins which were then given to the pigs. Pigs love pumpkins almost as much as apples. They don’t care to share and will take half a pumpkin and runaway to hid with it.

Annual Farm Day!

This month we hosted our annual Farm day on Ararat. We open up the farm to family and friends to have a fun filled day of fellowship and festivities. It’s always a lot of work to prep but so much fun to host and have everyone come and enjoy.

Little Farm Hand

This year Little Farm Hand went to her first pumpkin patch. We gathered pumpkins for the farm day event and she was so excited to help pick out just the right pumpkins.

That’s A Wrap

Well, that brings you up to date with everything going on. It has been a busy month but we are thankful to the Lord for all he provides. Times to work and times to rest. Times to plan and times to lay before him. Thank you for taking the moment to visit today. Until next time have a wonderful rest of your day.
