Hello Everyone,

So sorry for the delay. October has been an extremely busy month between events on the farm, finishing beef orders and just simply farm projects. It has been quiet a whirlwind. Now we are slowing down and snuggling in with the cold weather that has come in and we are preparing for rifle season to start in a few weeks. I will try to keep the update brief.

Summary of October:

  • Beef sales wrap up and cows doing well

  • Piggies slowly but surely growing out well

  • Our little piggy…

  • Events

The Cows

We finished up beef orders at the beginning of this October and all the drops went well and the customers were pleased.

The remainder of the herd have continued to graze happily on the rich uncut hay like grass. Because it is later in the season and the grass was never cut for hay, the cows have grass that has the nutrients of hay.

Extra grazing…

It is such a blessing to have the extra grazing this year. Because of it we are able to graze the herd longer into the winter season. Unlike all the other farms around us who have started feeding hay in the last week.

The Pigs

There isn’t a huge update with the piggies. They are slowly but surly filling out and getting bigger. They are taking longer than we anticipated but it’s probably due to the big pigs being with them while they were still very little. They sure have enjoyed the acorn crop this year!

Our Little Piggy…

It is so special to see how the next generation to grow up on the Watson farm enjoys the animals even at such a young age!

Events

This year October was filled with 2 major events that took quite a bit of prep and time.

First we had our annual farm day, of which I failed to take any pictures. So sorry. We had a good turn out and hosted it down at the new hay barn lot.

Next we hosted another Project Appleseed which went very well. We had perfect weather for it. Brisk mornings and mild afternoons.
