Ararat Farm Newsletter April 2024

Hello Everyone,

What a beautiful Spring we have had and it seems like we are moving very quickly into Summer. It’s been very hot here on the farm with a few storms that pop up and make it humid and feel like July. We have had a very busy April which has kept us on our toes. Between finishing up on some welding jobs, getting meat chicks, rotating cows and moving pigs it’s been a full month. Let’s get started…

Summary for April:

  • Lot’s of calves in the field!

  • Piggies Big Move

  • Meat Chickens on Pasture

  • Little Farm Hand’s Helping Hand

The Herd

The herd has been doing well this month. They are very happy and fat cows as we have started rotational grazing this month. Once they got on grass they fattened right up and have been very spoiled.

Lots of little Calves

We have had a bunch of calves this month too. The frisky little things are doing well. We had one calf get rejected by the mama but we are working to bond them back and it is slow progress but they are coming back together. Everyone else are happy little playful things.

The Pigs

The piggies had an exciting event this month. They have moved from the barn to the pig field. They were so excited. They loaded pretty well and have really enjoyed the wide open spaces of the field, especially the fresh forage.

Pasture Chickens

The Pasture Chickens are now on pasture. They have been on pasture for the last several weeks and are doing really well. They are eating like little piranhas and getting nice and fat and happy!

Little Farm Hand

As Little Farm Hand continues to get bigger her ability to be involved with chores and projects grows too. It has been such a gift to watch her grow and learn how to be involved. Adventures are endless on the farm, especially with a little person!

That’s A Wrap

That pretty much wraps everything up with the animals this month. Everyone is doing well and we have been busy but we are so thankful for everything the Lord continues to provide on the farm this spring. Thank you for visiting and we look forward to next month.
