Ararat Farm Newsletter November 2022

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you all! We hope you all had a great holiday. Ararat Farm had a very pleasant time. The weather became so much more mild and beautiful weather. This month was very busy with farm prep for weather and forestry fires that picked up this fall. So lets get started with this newsletter update for you all.

Summary for the Month of November:

  • Fall Grazing

  • New Little Piggies

  • Crazy Fall Forestry

  • New Spring Work

  • Little Farm Hand

The Herd

The cows are now into full fall grazing now. We are stretching the winter grazing out as long as we can through using supplemental hay. During hunting season we are also keeping them in certain fields. All the cows are doing well other then the new ones not staying in hot fence well.

The Pigs

We are coming close to the one bad day for the big pigs. They are doing well and now back in their old field. They are fat lazy piggies. We have also recently gotten 17 more piglets. They are little goofy piggies that scurry around and love the goodies we give them.

Fall Forestry

This fall before the rain came in it was very dry. On the farm it was so dusty dry and the woods were ripe for fires. Matt ended up running fires solid for a week. It was a busy week and very active. We were very appreciative of the rain.

New Spring!

The start of this fall we worked on a new spring source due to the one we were on drying up with this summer. It has worked so well thus far and now we have buried the pipes as the cold weather came in this month.

Little Farm Hand

Little farm hand is getting so big and trying to become such a big helper. She was very excited to see all the new little pigs and begged them to come over for her to pet them. They weren’t convinced yet.

That’s All Folks

Well, that wraps up this month’s newsletter. We are so thankful for all of you and so appreciate you all joining us today. We hope to see you next newsletter. Have a wonderful day.
